I'm sorry if this response seems rude, but have you double and triple-checked it's threaded correctly? (I missed a step on mine not so very long ago and ended up with the same problem. Very frustrating.) Undo it all and start fresh, using a good quality thread?
It could be the thread. I got a (what I thought was a bargain) lot of thread It was very cheap and was alway breaking, or your top tension is too tight.
I have a machine like this. It will do this if the tension is too tight, or if it is not threaded correctly, or caught on something. More often than not (my kids did this regularly for awhile if I let them use it), there is a step missed in the threading.
