Is fabric softener the best way to remove wallpaper?

We've always used plain old dishwashing liquid in water. All you need is to wet the wallpaper with warm soapy water, let it soak in and then remove using a scraper where necessary. Some stubborn areas need a few tries though. Hope this helps.

I use vinegar and warm water. Just spray or wipe it on with a sponge. Let it soak in good and peel the paper right off. Another easy way is to take a piece of new wall paper and soak it in water; then place it on the old wall paper. Let it soak the old paper good and then peel off the old paper.

I just used warm water. I used a spraybottle. It came right off. But there are some areas where the glue is still there. I have tried vinegar, doesn't get the glue off.

What type of vinegar do you use (ex. apple cider, white, distillled)? What type would work best?

Editor's Note: Buy the white distilled. It is usually the cheapest and will work fine.
