Color Transfer on My Favorite Pants?

The dye from my new denim jacket rubbed off on my off-white pants. What can I do to get it out and not make it worse?

Do NOT soak dark colors in chloring bleach. It may work for a light color but expect some significant fading.

I am trying all types of clothing spot cleaners to try to remove a color of dye that bled onto another piece of clothing. I have looked into the RIT color fade, but it says that the clothing piece must be white. I am dealing with navy blue bleeding onto a lighter shade of blue. Please help, these are a favorite pair of pants.

Put one half cup of Clorox bleach in a gallon bucket with one half cup powdered Cascade, use pretty warm water and let soak overnight. Works for me every time! (08/31/2005)

RIT makes a product called Color Remover, which is not the same as Color Fade. Color Fade is for fading things like new jeans. Colr Remover works really well. BTW, RIT has a wonderful website. (09/08/2005)

Can you really soak COLORS in diluted bleach and Cascade? I'm afraid to try it, but I really need it. Several of my daughter's outfits are custom made. Often, the designers do not use colorfast material, so I have two outfits that need the "red bleed" removed from a COLORED fabric. RIT says not to use on colored fabric. (08/07/2006)
