I am having a "Grease" (the movie) themed birthday party for my daughter who is turning 6. I am making poodle skirts out of felt and am going to let the girls decorate them. We are going to have a "sock hop" and hula hoop contest. I still need an idea for party favors. Any suggestions?

Hey, um just to make sure, if you play the music, try to find the 6-year old appropriate music, because some of the music from the movie isn't appropriate for a six-year-old. If you can, maybe the girls could learn the appropriate words and maybe they could record a music video with the music if you can find the karaoke version. Maybe you could replace the inappropriate words with lyrics of your own? I think the party guests would like it.

I had a Grease themed Party and for the party gift bags we gave sunglasses (dollar store) candy (all kids love candy) and a cd of the songs (I burned them)! Of course my party was for a bunch of 9 year olds!

Get your daughter to dress up as Sandy and the rest of the girls in Jitterbug dresses or pink lady costumes.

At a cake decorating store, you can purchase a chocolate record mold. I made labels on the computer that read "It's my Party". Also, I bought blow up instruments from oriental trading company and had a contest. I played 50's music. Also, I had a girl deliver cokes, malts, etc. while on roller skates. She wore a white blouse, black skirt, roller skates and a little red tie on her neck. Depending on her age, I had a "This is Your Life" segment and brought in friends that gave a little speech. Very cute!

I need help! I am planning to have a Grease themed Sweet 16 and I know that all my girl friends would love it but I'm not sure that the boys my age would be into dancing to the 50s tunes let alone dressing up for it. I don't know what else to do to entertain both the boys and girls.

You should try Oriental Trading magazine. It has tons of great favors, costumes, and games. Just looking through one of the magazines gave me tons of ideas for my daughters 13th birthday.

For an Activity, try swing dancing and have a competition. Then for decorations try cuting a piece of ply-wood in half and push it up against a wall, make sure it's resting on something. paint the wood and you have your very own bar.

for food, make hamburgers and fries, sodas, and milkshakes. for activities, you could have a contest to see who has the best costume, who can do the hand jive and the twist the best, and have a kareoke party....

Depending on how far you want to go, guests can come in 50's attire like pink beehive wigs and poodle skirts for the girls, or leather jacket, t-shirt, and sunglasses for the boys.

Decorations can include 50's rock-and-roll music posters and plastic blow-up guitars or juke boxes. For great fun, have a hula hoop or American Bandstand contests. Just a few ideas, have a great party.

I've been looking at the ideas here..and they're pretty cool. but what if you've got to get 70 15 year olds to dance and stuff. Trust me these people are hard to entertain and i need help! i was thinking (its the ideas i saw here and i think some others) everyone comes dressed as if in the 50's or atleast with something small from the 50's then they enter the room which is decorated like the gym hall in the movie, then there's dance contests and karaoke and you could even act out one of the scenes from the movie and ppl vote and the winners get some kinda prize (im not sure what yet considering you can't really give a 15 year old from my school lil hair bobbins:s) if there's any feedback you can give me please do.

Get old albums from that time period, preferably singles. You can get something like a dozen for a couple bucks. Get yourself an oven safe bowl and some wax paper. turn the bowl over so the opening is face down place wax paper over the top and then place the album on top. Heat oven to 350. Put it all on a cookie sheet and place in oven for approximately 2-5 minutes you'll need to watch it. Then remove and while still warm gently push sides in to make a wavy effect. You now have take home favor bowls to fill with candy.

Try car keychains, and how about Pink tee shirts with "Pink Ladies" on the back for the girls and black ones with "T-Birds" for the boys, let them decorate the fronts.

How about combs for the boys' slicked back hair and ponytail holders for the girls. What about making malts for the party?

A string of pearls for each guest (craft or dollar store) would be very 50"s. Maybe a pink cadillac type of toy car. White tee shirts with jeans and sleeves rolled up were 50's , too. Inexpensive white canvas tennis shoes (get sizes from moms) could be painted into saddle shoes by you or by them in the color of choice!

I want to have a grease theme party any ideas? games favors decorations?

Posted on 08/17/2004 | Report Spam or Abuse

Something I thought for party favors are to buy:
Old small records around the 50 years and tape on candy..maybe the bubble gum as someone suggested that was chewed a lot in the 50's

Give ponytail holders....
Bobby socks with the guest names written on them with
A craft pen
A small clear box of colored bobby pins... Children's nail polish stickers with 50ish theme ..like record player ..etc

Games..let them do a karoke singing contest... with songs word pre-printed so they can sing from the printed page of words..and the music for the background.

Write the word "Grease" on a white sheet of paper in bubble type print and have a contest who can color the word grease ...

Hope this helps..let us know the outcome of the party and what you did..this sounds like so much fun..Janie :)

How about a "twist" contest, or limbo? And wasn't one of the main characters a "beauty school dropout"? Maybe hair accessories as favors, or a contest to give each other the silliest hairstyle?

I recently saw 6 pack, 6oz. each bottles; of coke cola. They are so cute and are the authentic looking ones from the 50's. I also spoke with a co-worker who saw them at a store in Southern California called 99cents only stores. I saw them a Vons Grocery store. Good luck! Great idea for a party.
