When we visit in Florida you find little trays of charcoal under the beds or couch. Also they use moth balls all over the place. Does anyone know really if all that is necessary? or Why?

I have a full basement. How much charcoal per space & how do you know when to change it? Thanks!

They may be putting the charcoal under the beds to get rid of musty odors or just odors it really does work. Same concept as baking soda in the fridge.
