Thrifty Tips: Office Desk Storage Boxes,Reusing Champagne Bucket, Using Old Film Negatives.

By Syd Barr
Office Desk Storage Boxes:

Use some sturdy boxes that are about 3" deep x 8 to 10" high for vertical desk organizer files. Buy a roll of wallpaper border paper with "books on a shelf" and cover the boxes. Makes for a neater looking desk.

Reusing Champagne Bucket

Champagne bucket past it's prime ... throw away? Recycle by using a "verdigris" (ver'di-gre) kit at craft stores like Michael's. You paint on a copper sulfate or copper chloride solution and it will age the champagne bucket to a green patina. Makes a nice flower vase. Trash to treasure!

Using Old Film Negatives

Make a bow decoration out of useless strips of negatives. Crisscross four strips to form base of bow and staple in the center. Take a smaller piece of negative and form a loop and carefully staple the two pieces together. Take your scissors and make "V's" in each base strip. Makes for a cheap bow to attach to a gift or gift bag. They don't make it anymore, I still have some gold spray marbelizing cans that I embellished the bows further.
