Preserve Leaves With Hair Spray

You can preserve colorful autumn leaves easily by spraying them on both sides with heavy duty hair spray! I did that, put them on twigs with wire - added nuts and other pods. I put them in a nice vase found in a thrift shop and made a lovely Thanksgiving centerpiece/guest gift to bring to my family's house. Outlay? $2-3 for the vase!

I wish you had a photo to add! This could be "thriftified" even more with an empty metal can or cardboard carton or even a pop bottle decorated with paper, paint, yarn, foam, cork or even more leaves wrapped around & fastened or stuck. Photo shows a pop bottle decorated to hold a paper leaf bouquet I made from scrap.

My mother does that to the flowers she puts on my father's grave sight. It helps to preserve them thru the weather.

What a great idea! I'm gathering my leaves.

Your homemade piece was probably much prettier than a store-bought one, too.

That's sounds so cool. Thanks! Gonna try it!
