I would like to know how to treat brown algae in my salt water fish tanks? The tank is 2 months old.

Thanks,
Jarjar from Quesnel, BC

you need to go and get an algaecide, something like AlgaeFix. I t will tell you on the bottle how to treat the tank to get rid of the algae! You may also consdier an anmonia lock for your tanks to, this will lock out all the anmonia that comes from the fish! Any good pet store will know exactly how to help you, if you go and ask for an algacide and an anmonia lock!
You also need to change some water in the tan kmonthly to keep it from growing algae!
Good luck!

Hi Jarjar, Algae in a new aquarium is not unusual. It will often go away by itself. Just make sure your filters are working properly, make regular water changes and that you are not overfeeding. You are doing the right thing by addressing it early and not waiting until the algae takes over.
There is a fantastic website: http://www.reefcentral.com . There is a special section for new tanks. Hope this helps. Mary
