I'm trying to determine what color to paint my kitchen walls. I have natural maple cabinets, white appliances, white tile floor with a little bit of a very light brown. Haven't selected the granite countertops yet, but will probably be gray-blackish. I was thinking about painting the walls a light yellow?

Hi Todd! I would be afraid that the yellow walls might sort of clash with the yellowish maple cabinets. Our house that we bought finished has maple cabinets, maple floors, and white walls. I prefer white because I can decorate with colors of curtains, pictures, etc. easier than I can paint and therefore change it as I get the mood (and $$$!). I added red as my accent color. I have red framed pictures on the walls, red covers for my small appliances (mixer, toaster), and red towels. I used green for awhile and just covered the appliances with green covers and used green and white checked valances for the windows. Back to your house. If I were to paint the walls in your kitchen I would go with a nice sage green.

I don't know your style, but I just painted mine a terra cotta color and it looks awesome, or Sage Green would also look great or light yellow? Hope this helps.

My kitchen cabinets are oak and the corian counters are an aqua shade with spots of black, white and various shades of turquoise. Any ideas for the walls?

I am having trouble deciding on a color for my kitchen. The cabinets are kind of a honey oak and it has aqua color tile on the backsplash. The floors we are putting in are a praire wheat wood floors. I have tried many samples on my wall and it seems nothing looks good.

You could go with cream or a nice sage green. Maybe even go bolder and make one wall a really nice bright color and the others more neutral.
In my last house, I had natural maple cabinets with creamy white walls. The floors were a snap tile that looked a lot like flagstone, but with a bit of brown, tan and cream in them -- it was a really nice match with the cabinets. We used burgundy and sage for colors in the decorations and curtains.
I wish I could say I had had a nice granite top, but with 4 kids and a small kitchen we went with white formica figuring we'd change it later. (Who knew we'd move 800 miles and have to start all over again? It should prove to be as much fun doing this new kitchen as the last!)

Your current colors are all neutrals so almost any color would match. Yellow would be nice, as would grey or sage green.

Well Brad, it would help in suggesting if you included the type/color of flooring and counter tops. Even appliances can come into play. Having just completed a kitchen remodel I can appreciate it when it all comes together. Kat (04/02/2005)

I believe a light Sage color would be beautiful. (04/02/2005)

RE: Kitchen Paint Color to match white washed oak kitchen cabinets

I am moving into a new house with white-washed kitchen cabinets and am struggling with a wall color. The counter top is marble-like with white and gray swirls. The entire first floor includes an open floor plan that includes dining room, living room and family room. So a neutral color is my first thought. The floor is hardwood everywhere with cream-colored ceramic tile in the kitchen. Any suggestions? (09/07/2005)

The walls in the colour "ginger" would be awesome with those cabinets. Cream would be my second choice. I would add something red to that kitchen to bring out the wood. I am in the process of reupholstering my living room. The sofa, chair & drapes will be raspberry velvet...sofa is done & looks totally awesome against the old hardwood floors & cream coloured walls. Have fun! Patsy

PS I am adding Native American items to the room, to bring these shades all together. (03/13/2006)
