Bread Pudding


  • 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs
  • 3 cups hot milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • Ad
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • whipped topping or hot sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3-4 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 4 Tbsp. cornstarch


Combine the bread crumbs, milk, eggs, sugar, salt and margarine together. Add the raisins and vanilla. Pour into a well greased baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes or until firm. Serve with whipped topping or hot sauce.

For sauce: In a small pan, mix the brown sugar, water, margarine, vanilla and nutmeg together and cook it until it looks like syrup. In a small bowl mix the cornstarch and about 1/4 cup of cold water together, stirring well to get any lumps out. Add it to the syrup and stir constantly until thick. Pour over the bread pudding and serve.
