It was powdered dishwasher detergent and I scrubbed with a brush.

i used to have to clean my ex boyfriends white keds. (he'd get upset if he got grass stains if we were picnicking.) I used dishwasher detergent. that was for WHITE shoes and grass stains, but worked miracles.

Buy Rit dye remover where Rit dye is sold. Use it with care - it's powerful stuff! An alternative is dying the shoes denim blue or a darker color. Good luck!
