Does anyone know how to clean antique metal shelf supports (brackets) They`re beautiful filigree work but had many coats of paint. I managed to get all of the paint off but now have a very "rusty" set of brackets. Can anyone help. I want to repaint them with black or white rustoleum paint. Thanks! Mairmie from AB,Canada

Whenever I needed to remove rust from metal (such as outdoor umbrella tables and scratches on refrigerators) I purchased a plastic container of "Naval Jelly " and painted it on rust then rinsed off with water. Rustoleum paint is the best paint for this. Good Luck!

Scrub with a fine wire brush to remove the rust and seal before painting, (Rustoleum may do this - I've not heard of it).

Regards

Jo
