Relieve Itch from Poison Ivy and Poison Oak

After washing the area with soap and water, wipe down that area of the skin with a mix of 1/2 chlorine bleach and 1/2 water and rinse with water. Helps to remove the plant oil that creates all that itching.

My husband uses liquid dishwasher detergent which is probably very close to what you've indicated. Though I haven't had the need to try it, he says it stings for a moment or two when you first apply it, but it dries it out in a few days rather than suffering with it for weeks.
