I've also used small wire (I've stripped down bread ties) and used beads to decorate a bobby pin. I use a super small bead, placed directly in the center, and folded the wire together, with the bead as a "stop" bead. I've strung other beads, with at least 1/2 inch left over to wrap in the curve of the bobby pin.
