Ingredients
- 3/4 cup shortening (soft)
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 cups Quaker oats (uncooked)
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- raisins (add to your desire)
- nuts (add to your desire)
Directions
Beat shortening, sugars, egg, water, and vanilla together until creamy. Sift together flour, salt, and soda; add to creamed mixture. Blend well. Stir in oats, raisins, and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees F for 12-15 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
