My mom used to make this often. She has been gone for about 10 years. I always remembered this recipe and managed to save it from her files.

  • 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. evaporated milk or cream
  • 1 Tbsp. peanut butter (optional)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Confectioner's sugar to thicken

Stir all together and cook for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Add enough confectioner's sugar to thicken to desired consistency for spreading. Add 1 tsp. vanilla.

Servings: Enough to frost a 9 x 13 inch cake
Prep Time: 2 Minutes
Cooking Time: 3 Minutes
