Broiled Salmon Burgers

I learned to love salmon at a very young age. We ate salmon a lot when I was a kid. These burgers are truly a great recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fine soft bread crumbs
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup minced green onions
  • 1/2 cup finely grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 can salmon, skinned, boned and drained
  • 1 Tbsp. butter, melted

Directions:

Combine crumbs, egg whites, chili sauce, lemon juice, onions, cheese and pepper in medium size bowl and mix well. Flake salmon into bowl and blend gently. Form salmon mixture into 5 patties. Melt butter in non-stick skillet, pan-fry the patties over medium low heat about 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Patties may also be brushed with melted butter and oven-broiled 3-4 inches from heat.

I made this recipe and found it completely wrong! I followed the recipe exactly.

1. The burgers were too dry to stick together (I added ketchup, soy, and a little water)

2. 1 Tbsp. butter - no way would that work! I made 18 burgers and had to keep adding a little oil every time. This was in a pan that requires no oil or butter!

3. You mention to make 5 patties (but you don't say you have to do this at least 3-4 times!)

In the end it all turned out well, but check your recipes before you send them out.
