I get a squirter, fill it up with water. Every time my cat misbehaves (we don't let the cat see it), we quickly squirt the cat. They don't like been squirted, so they eventually stop it. When it does stop it we award it with cuddles and and cat treats.

My dad keeps a can filled with marbles or coins on hand and whenever their pets start to misbehave he shakes that loud can at them..after a while they'll associate that action with the obnoxious consequence and stop..at least it works for them, but you have to keep at it.and make sure when they go to their scrathcing post or whatever you have that they can freely scratch on you immediately reward them with hugs and petting
