Melt butter. Add flour and cook for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Add salt, cayenne, paprika and milk. Cook and stir until mixture thickens. In a greased 2 qt. casserole layer asparagus, ham, grated egg and cheese. Cover with half of sauce. Repeat layering again. Cover with bread crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until crumbs are brown and sauce is bubbly.
