Great project to do some bonding with your "little men"! And I agree, use tinted primer. I am a country gal myself and saw an interesting tie back for a pair of plaid curtains. They used a pair of bananas to actually tie the curtain back, and then added a small pair of cowboy boots, with wheat stalks and greenery coming out of the top of the boot. Add a pair of spurs and presto! Cowboy billy rides again! They secured the boot to the wall with screws through the top of the "pull on" tab.
