My boys, ages 8 and 11, want to paint their room bright red with black borders. Any concerns?

Have the paint store tint the primer to match the paint color to save the time and money you would spend to do several coats to get even coverage.

Let them go for it, our basement is bright red with black trim. Like the others said it will take several coats and seems to take longer to dry, but looks really nice.

One thing about painting in red. You will need SEVERAL coats of paint!

If you don't have a problem with it, we don't have a problem with it. You can always repaint later.

It's just paint! Great project to do some bonding with your "little men"! And I agree, use tinted primer. I am a country gal myself and saw an interesting tie back for a pair of plaid curtains. They used a pair of bananas to actually tie the curtain back, and then added a small pair of cowboy boots, with wheat stalks and greenery coming out of the top of the boot. Add a pair of spurs and presto! Cowboy billy rides again! They secured the boot to the wall with screws through the top of the "pull on" tab.

Sounds cool! I'd use tinted primer for the walls and go with a race car or general automotive theme.
