Puppies should not be taken from their mother at such an early age. They should be at least 6 weeks and preferably 8 weeks old. Puppy shots start as soon as you get them.....especially parvo, which is a deadly disease in pups.

Request: Getting First Puppy Shots
Archived on 11/18/2009
When do you give a puppy shots, if taken from the mother at 4 weeks old?
I breed Australian Shepherds and puppies get their first shot at six weeks, second at nine weeks, third at twelve weeks, and their fourth and last puppy shot at sixteen weeks which is when they also receive a rabies shot. They are then good to go for one year. (08/08/2009)
