I've been making my own vanilla for a few years now. I was thinking that anise extract might be made in the same way. Sure enough, I found a site that shows a vanilla recipe but it says you can do it with other things too...and the author mentioned anise seed. Here's that site: http://www.abigslice.com/extracts.html
