One frosty morning, four of our five farm cats were lined up on the steps waiting to be fed. They are, from the top down, Zoey, Beauty, Alphie and Max. Zoey is the mother or grandmother to the others. She showed up one day as a stray. She stayed out in the feed storage barn for about six months, cleaning out the mice there. Finally she let my husband pet her, and gradually she moved closer and closer to the house until the other cats would let her eat with them. She has been a ferocious hunter, feeding not only her kittens but everyone else's, too. She loves to be cuddled, but absolutely will not let us doctor her.
There are groups who will spay and neuter stray cats for a very reasonable fee. If you haven't done so, please do it asap. Each year millions of unwanted cats and dogs are destroyed needlessly, or wind up in a shelter.

Thank you from the kitties for feeding them and keeping them so healthy. If you can manage it, please consider having them spayed and neutered so as to not add more stray kitties to the large population of unwanted cats.

That really is a precious gang of cats! They look so healthy! I too have a mother/grandma cat who keeps the other four cats in line, constantly swatting at one or the other. Thanks for sharing the great picture with us!
