Home Water Maintenance Tips

Next time you have a helper on hand, go around your home and turn all the valves under your sinks and toilets off and on several times. You may find that minerals in your water have made the valves difficult (or nearly impossible) to turn. It is much better to enlist the aid of a helper and get them taken care of now, than wait until you have a water emergency and cannot get them turned off! If you are not sure of the location or means to turn all the water off in your home (water main or pump), this is also a good time to learn! Make sure each child old enough to be home alone also knows how to turn the water off, as well. Thankfully, these kinds of emergencies are rarely life threatening, but you can surely save yourself a huge mess if you can get the water turned off should the toilet plug or a faucet break!

That is a really good idea to teach the kids how to turn the water off. Good for you.
