Water just feeds them and makes more and more untill they are jumping in your carpet. While I treated the house with a spray from the vet, he vacuumed the dog with the shop vac. She thought she was getting a massage and the fleas were sucked right off of her. It is called Cedarcide and you can find it on line. It can be used for all pets. You have to spray it on your pets every three days 2x's and then every 2weeks until infestation stopped. Like one of the other's mentioned they are poison. Regardless of what vet's & companies tell you they are bad & will get into the nervous system of a dog. There are to many natural products you can use. Diatamaceous earth can be spread in your yard. It's cheap, can be spread w/a spreader & it's only ground up seashells. It dries them up. You can usually get it at a nursery or anywhere they sell gardening products. Bathe your dog and apply some to coat. you could put some in a spray bottle and spray your dog. But a bath and then Skin so Soft should get rid of them and keep them away for a while. You have to attack the problem from all sides! First, you have to bathe your dog using a flea shampoo. You also need to use a flea dip (rinse). Then you have to take care of the fleas in your home and outside! There are many products for that, such as foggers, carpet powder that you vacuum up, etc. When you place a flea collar on your dog and you trim it to length, put the trimmed section of the collar in your vacuum bag to help kill fleas and their eggs! Fleas particularly dislike the flavor of garlic and yeast (nutritional or brewer's yeast). Mixing garlic and yeast with your pet's food can render their blood unpalatable to fleas.
