The birds are eating my dog's food! Her food bowls are even in her doghouse and the birds will go in there and eat right out of her bowls whether she is in there or not. I even put a bird feeder in the tree beside her doghouse, but they seem to like the dog food better. Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I have done it! Someone told me to buy a small plastic snake. It had to be a certain type. Well I couldn't find one but I put a ferocious looking plastic lizard near the dog food and now? no more problem. After couple of months I changed its position just in case these birds are too smart.

Other than feeding the dog inside here are a couple of suggestions that might slow the birds down from eating dog food. First suggestion would be to place a small dog bowl inside of a slightly larger and taller paint pail or bucket- most birds won't go into a confined bucket. Other suggestion is to buy slightly larger sized dry dog food that the birds can't pick up and carry off. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know if birds will eat moist cat food? I know the birds are eating the hard food that is put down but someone is eating the entire bowl of moist cat food that I put down for my wild kitten in evenings. Please help!

The cd's seem like the best answer. But a cat is not an option. My dog would eat the cat.

This is happening to me with our cat food. I just realized that it's so bad, my cats are HUNGRY... I'm trying to feed the cats at night when the birds aren't out, but then I'm worried about attracting racoons and possums. If anyone has a GREAT idea (the CD one might work), I'd be thrilled to hear it. My cats even killed one of the birds, but the birds seem to be winning.

I use a BB gun for the birds. Just an empty C02 BB gun. When they get by the food dish I shoot it a bunch of times. Doesnt harm them but it sure scares the hell out of them. That will usually work for one day. But they come back after a few days. Fish and Game told me to shoot the pigeons and trap the Doves, so I am looking into a pigeon and Dove trap as I dont feel like shooting a bunch of birds.

I am having a really hard time with this as well. I have a little puppy (she is 1/2 yorkshire terrier & 1/2 chihuahua) and the birds are almost the same size as her. They constantly eat her food-I have just put a bird feeder outside in hopes that they will leave her food alone....anyone have any other suggestions?

You may want to get a cheapy dog food and put it in a place where only the can get to it.

I have found that if I put the birdseed on the ground they will stop eating my dogs food.

We've had the same problem. I ended up bringing in the dog dish. Then, a few times a day, I would set out the food for her to eat and then bring it back inside as soon as she was done. I would do this for a week or two and then once the birds 'forgot' about the dog dish, I would set it out for the whole day once again. They can go thru a lot of dog food very quickly, can't they?

Hi,
Try stringing together some old cd's. If you have any fishing line and a swivel just tie it all together after punching a little hole in each side. Kind of like stringing popcorn but with the fishing swivel it will twirl tin the wind and the reflection will scare the birds from that area. Worked great, I used it on my boat to keep the poo off.
