I have fond memories of my grandparents sitting on their airy porch in summer. Grandpa tore the old fabric into strips while Grandma sewed the pieces together with needle and thread. The fabric was then rolled into a ball and crocheted into useful rugs. I would give a lot to have another of her rugs today. I'm 70 plus years so you can imagine how long ago this was. Although I don't crochet, I tried to make a rug like her's but the edges rolled. Good luck.
