Dying Pasta for Crafts

Can you colour pasta the same way as the uncooked rice with food colouring?

I've dyed pasta by mixing a few drops of food coloring in 1/2 cup alcohol. Pour over the dry pasta and mix it up. Let dry on paper towels.

That's rubbing alcohol - not vodka.
