How do I make my hair shiny, healthy, and beautiful?
A daily mutlivitamin containing Biotin will help. Don't over-blowdry hair. Apply a daily UV protecting serum
A vinegar rinse will make it shine and feel silky, it does not smell of vinegar--equal parts water and vinegar. I also use a pea size of wash out conditioner AFTER my hair is rinsed, leave it on and dry; your hair will not be frizzy. Good luck:)
I put a small amount of conditioner on my hair and leave it. It reduces frizzing and makes it feel soft. ( I live in FL where the humidity is brutal on hair!)
My hair is frizzy/curly and coarse and very thick. I found that rubbing a small amount of coconut oil through my wet hair after my normal washing and conditioning works beautifully. Then I let it dry naturally. Also, you have to tackle these issues from the inside. Stop eating sugar and refined flour and get lots of omega fatty acids into your diet. Flax seed oil or evening primrose oil are the best.
Someone suggested vitamins. Your hair is a reflection of your diet sometimes. Eating well helps. However, using shampoos with mild detergent and a good conditioner once a week will help. If it is brittle, you need a protein treatment. Ask about the treatment at you hair salon or beauty supply store.

Amla and coconut oil applied to the scalp helps the hair to grow healthy and silky. You can get it from spice shops or any Indian store.

My mother was always fond of using beer and mayonnaise. Not together, of course, but it worked for her. (10/13/2009)
That can be a little heavy for certain types of hair. I bet it smells great though. I use olive oil on occasion on my fine hair. It works really well. Just leave on over night, cover with shower cap, and wash out the next morning. I usually lather twice.
If you do this once a month and especially if you use Head and Shoulders, it will also prevent dandruff. My dermatologist had me do this once when I was taking meds that made my skin and scalp really dry. It works. Mama would use beer to set her hair with. The odor goes away and it works like a setting gel. (10/15/2009)
I would like to know if someone has a homemade recipe to make my hair healthy and grow fast. I would like to have long hair. If you do, please post it here.
Thanks a lot,

Hate to tell you this . . . but hair is dead. The cells stop growing when they reach the level of your scalp, so there is nothing other than general good health that will make your hair grow faster. (06/29/2006)

Research has show bald men can regrow hair if they take 5000mg of folic acid daily. If it works for them, it will work for women too. (06/29/2006)
I have had two experiences with hair loss and my hair actually stopped growing - I had hypothyroid disease.
My herb books mention that there are several herbs to help with hair loss. I used horsetail because the book actually said it would grow hair! I took two capsules three times a day, and in about three weeks my hair started to grow and get thick. I thought it was my imagination, but my hairdresser was amazed. A lady overheard me at my hairdresser and she used it with the same great results! However, another lady used it with no luck.
Herbs are medicine and shouldn't be treated lightly. However, that said, there are many herbs used for hair growth. Try and see!
Also, my sister told me that taking 1000mg of biotin per day helps hair stop falling out. I'm trying to remember to take it every day! But when I do take it consistently, I swear, my hair is falling out less and less!
It's called Apple A Day conditioner. First, you cut up 1 or 2 large apples into cubes, than add some vinegar, 2 cups of water and shampoo/soap, ( as much as you would like. Blend it. WOW! Shiny, healthy hair, everything you need.
