When a strong food odor remains in a plastic food container, wash it well with soap and water. Then, place it and its lid outside in a protected area for a few days. I keep mine in a plant cage on my deck, where 'critters' don't bother it. After about 2 days, your container/lid will be as fresh-smelling as can be. The odors will be gone.
