I live in California and I would like advice on plants that can be hung in pots on a sunny, hot side of the house.

I also suggest ivy geranium as a great plant for hanging in hot sunny locations. They come in many beautiful colors, and can be very easily rooted from cuttings (free). I would suggest that the bigger the container, the better. It will hold water a bit longer than the smaller baskets do. Spider plants may also be successful, and can usually be had for free from friends or neighbors who have ones with "babies". They come in dark or light green, or striped varieties.

Best to call your local nursery and see what they recommend. In Sourthern Ca." Armstrongs" are very helpful. Watering is key to hanging plants. You have to take them down and soak them, pot and all for a couple of hours to make sure all the roots get a good drink. Fill up a pot/tub and put the plant in it.If it floats, leave it until it gets heavy or sinks, or for over night, then drain and hang. Twice a month or every week depends on how much sun it gets. Strawberries & tomatoes are a great hot sunny side hanging plants. Petunias & ivy geranium are also nice. Good luck, Great granny vi
