Salt as Patio Weed Killer

Instead of buying expensive products (for example, Weed Begone) to get rid of weeds and grass coming up in between patio blocks, carefully spread salt between the bricks and blocks. Sprinkle with water or wait for the rain to wet it down.

When I lived in West Texas the Pecos canteloup farmers ruined their fields by using fertilizer that had salt in it. It not only kills weeds but saturates the soil with salt. If you notice around the oceans, not much will grow there because of the salt water washing up on the shores. I pour boilingwater on the weeds and it usually kills them out in no time. Of course, there is always a weed that defys all logic and comes back!

I use vinegar, really works well. Just put in spray bottle.

Great idea. Has anyone tried this, if so, it's on my spring to do list!
