Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie

• 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
• 2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
• 1/4 cup granulated sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 1 1/3 cup all purpose flour
• 1/2 tsp. baking soda
• 1/4 tsp. salt
• 1 (6 oz.) bag semisweet chocolate chips
• 1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars till light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla till well blended. Gradually beat in flour, baking soda, and salt till well mixed. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts. Spread dough evenly in a greased 12 inch pizza pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes or till golden brown. Cool. Can cut in wedges (makes 16 wedges).

Makes great gifts! Would make a great surprise for that special college student, etc. If giving as a gift, it's best to leave whole (easier to wrap).
