Removing Decals From Wood |

How do you remove decals that were added to a wooden bread box and a wooden potato box over 20 years ago? They really have stayed on. No sealer, etc was brushed over them. I want to put on new decals as these are faded.

Why not just leave them where they are and put your new decals over the old ones. Or create a "decoupage" look by putting decals or pictures all over the outer surface. Seal with a good sealany that will help reduce sun fading and water damage. Good luck!

A product like Goo Gone will remove the labels but I would try using a hair drier to loosen the glue to peel them off first ... or for that matter try a wallpaper stripper. But test it on the wood first to make sure it won't damage the finish.
Good Luck! Rebekah
