A coffee filter is a very good filter to run fresh coconut milk through. Comes out clean, with no little pieces or dust of the shell . Just place the filter on top of a cup or bowl and pour the coconut liquid through slowly.
Whenever I've had to use a coffee filter for something (like when we make homemade butter for a science project or coffee when the powere was out for more than a day), i place the filter inside a smaller strainer (colander). It is so much more stable that way!
