Using Shower Caps for Bowl Covers

At beauty supply stores you can buy shower caps in numerous quantities, but reasonably priced. They usually come in boxes of varied sizes. These make great kitchen bowl covers when you have lost a lid, are too lazy to search for the lid and, of course, if you are taking something somewhere in a bottom that is disposable and need a disposable cover for it.

I would only use food safe plastic covers. In other words, bowl covers that were specifically made to come in contact with food. You can save money by buying them at a "dollar store" or other discount store.

Shower Caps In The Kitchen

I have been buying shower caps from the dollar store. You can get 15 caps for $1.00. They are great for covering bowls you put in the refrigerator and cheaper than aluminum foil. I also keep my stand mixer bowl covered with a shower cap so I don't have to rinse it every time I want to use it. This works great!

I keep the free shower caps at hotels and sometimes the maids will give you a few extra. I also buy hair perm caps at a salvage store. I use these to cover bowls for leftovers instead of buying the bowl covers at the store.

Source: I came up with this one my self because I was out of handy wrap and I remembered the shower caps. It worked great.

RE: Using Free Shower Caps for Bowl Covers

I have been using those shower caps for a long time now, I buy them in a pkt of 6 for a dollar at the dollar store. I also find them SO useful for covering my kitchen equipment such as blender, ice crusher, pop corn popper, juicer, food processor etc. Keeps the dust off of anything that they will fit that isn't used daily. I just bought a package of 25 clear shower caps for $1 at the dollar store. I use them to cover large bowls of leftover foods. I don't have to wash an extra storage container since I use the container that the food was served in. One cap can be used over and over again. When the food is gone, I just have to wash the bowl, pot, or whatever it was in and not worry about looking for containers and matching lids.
