Using Fruits and Veggies Before They Go Bad

I have several ideas for using fruits and veggies before they go bad. Onions, bell pepper, celery, other veggies I can use in a recipe, I chop, then store in the freezer in a ziplock freezer bag.

Some fruits, like apples and pears, I peel, cut in chunks or slices, put in a saucepan, cover with water, add a small amount of sugar (taste after cooking, add more if needed), let cook until tender. Cool, then freeze in freezer container or ziplock freezer bag. These can be used for pies, cobblers, etc.

I freeze blueberries, strawberries, even grapes. Thaw only the amount needed-eat raw or use in smoothies or put in yogurt.
