After cracking a coconut open and draining the liquid, bake the two halves in a 400 degree F oven for 25-30 minutes. The fresh coconut meat will come out very easy with a little help from a soup spoon. And your kitchen will have a tropical scent!

If the coconut smells fermented, don't eat it. Also, if the flesh is grey, thats not a good sign. You want very white coconut meat that has a slight coconut smell.
