Removing Coconut Meat - Fresh Coconut Driving You Nuts?

If the coconut smells fermented, don't eat it. Also, if the flesh is grey, thats not a good sign. You want very white coconut meat that has a slight coconut smell.

If there is no milk in fresh coconut is it bad??? I heated it in the oven and cracked it open but there is a funny odor. Meat is white to grey in color. Help
