RE: Recipes for a Galloping Gourmet Perfection Aire Countertop Convection Oven
Hi Jack: I have a Galloping Gourmet Perfection Aire Countertop Convection Oven Model # C2000 (2000, not 200 as you say you're looking for) with a cookbook. Got countertop oven with cookbook at a yard sale for a buck, and really really like it for baked potaoes and the like. Also great to use for for an extra large bowl when needed, or pot lucks (rather than a crockpot)to keep food warm. Cookbook came with it, many thanks to the previous owner.
Publisher is "Direct Innovative Products & Intermax, Inc." (1991)if this helps you find one for yourself. ~Laura

Request: Recipes for a Galloping Gourmet Perfection Aire Countertop Convection Oven
I recently had the good fortune to obtain an old Galloping gourmet perfection aire countertop convection oven. I'm totally intimidated by it. My attempt at muffins was a disaster. Crispy outside, wet inside... I'm guessing the temp was too high. Beer chicken was a little dry.
Is there anyone out there who has one of these R2D2 look-alikes, and can give me a few starter recipes (most important is temp and timing) so that I might have a starting point for this culinary adventure?
Thanks in advance, Doggy U*u*U from TX

RE: Recipes for a Galloping Gourmet Perfection Aire Countertop Convection Oven
Hi there!
I have 2 Galloping Gourmet ovens and I love them. I use them a lot during the Holidays. What I have learned with them is to reduce the temp. by 25 degrees, especially if you are making cakes or cookies. Keep in mind, the convection is what cooks things so quickly, so if you added a little more moisture to meats they will do fine. I generally use regular recipes in mine. Also, it will cook faster and clean up easier if you put tin foil in the bottom to catch any spatter. When I cook a whole chicken, try wrapping it in foil to keep moisture at a maximum.
Hope that will help you some. (10/26/2006)

I've been using convection ovens for many ears now. You do have to cook at a lower temp. Here is one site I found for recipes - http://www.foodreference.com/html/tconvectionoven.html
I did a Metacrawler search - convection oven recipes.
There are also books for the GG oven. Check with Half.com and Amazon's used books. Look under Graham Kerr as well as Galloping Gourmet.
You have to be careful when cooking meats that you don't overcook them [which is what makes them dry]. If a recipe calls for 350F for 45 in. do 325F and start checking at 25 min. An instant read thermometer is very helpful.
It takes some time, but you have to learn how your oven works. I've had several different brands [and types] and every one I had was different. I'm looking into a counter top oven with a rotisserie for my next one.
Good luck and enjoy your oven.

I did a quick look at Half and Amazon there are loads of titles for convection cooking, starting at $.75 plus S&H. There are also loads of books for Graham Kerr and Galloping Gourmet.
Amazon has the, Galloping Gourmet's New Way To Cook, book for $3.75 + S&H
