Recall of Raw Almonds

There has been a recall of raw almonds due to a potential infection with Salmonella. Eating these almonds raw can cause extreme food poisoning 12-36 hours after eating them. Anyone who purchased raw almonds which are affected by the recall should take them back to the store where they purchased them.

The recall include raw almonds from Paramount Farms that were sold under the brand names Kirkland Signature (Costco), Trader Joe's, or Sunkist with "best before" dates bewteen 8/21/04 and 3/15/05. Other brands may also be affected.

The Salmonella will be killed if you cook the almonds. However, you should probably return any unused almonds if they are within the affected range of "best before" dates.
