This is Serena T. Dog (T. is for "The"). She's a one year old black lab that we rescued from the pound about six months ago. Serena likes to chase her ball and dig for moles. She came equipped with mange! If your dog has mange, don't go in for those special baths or dips that go for $40, they're smelly, messy and you have to repeat them 7 days later! We were able to get a special "flea" collar from the local vet that was treated for mange for about $17. No mess, no fussing, no bath! She just wore the collar for a couple months and bye-bye mange!
I see she has a "invisible fence" collar. I think they are the greatest if used properly. I have convinced at least five people to purchase them. Every one of them was pleased. As long as dogs are trained properly, they are great. I trained our dogs in about one week. I used the manufacturer's instructions as a guide line. I didn't need to follow everything that was stated. You have to know your dogs. There were times when the batteries were dead, but the dogs still stayed on our property. I have to test the collars at times since the dogs have learned their boundary. Normally the batteries last us about 6 months. We have had this "fencing" for about 5 years.
Good for you for rescuing a needy animal--I've been happy to see so many posts here on TF that have done that! Sabrina T Dog!--what a cute name!--Cute picture!-- and not only that--a thrifty tip about the mange collar, too! What more could anyone ask?
