Dr. Bronners Magic Soap

I have been a long time user of Dr. Bonner's castile soaps. It comes in bars or liquid form. I have found the best place to buy this is Target. They have 2 sizes of the bottles. I buy the 32 oz. one. You can get the 32 oz. bottle for under $15.00. I believe the bars are under $ 5.00. It comes in peppermint, almond, lavender, and baby formula. I love this stuff.

We use it for bathing, washing hair, laundry, dishes, household cleaning, and washing the car. It does not have any chemicals and isn't harmful to the environment. It doesn't take much so the bottle lasts a really long time.

But, if you like a product that gives big lather, this product will not give you that. You will have to get used to washing without all that lather. If you try it, you will continue to use it. And it does not dry out the skin. It contains many essential oils. It's the only cleaning product I buy because it has so many uses. It is purely organic.

We have very hard water and it foamed up great for us. The only thing is it leaves a sticky feel to your skin and I cant even imagine what it would do to your hair. Soap can be very irritating to a baby's skin and I think I would stick to the more gentler baby formulas such as Johnson and Johnson or Baby Magic. I have very sensitive skin and these soaps are very harsh. Having said all that the lavender formula does smell good if I could just find something other than skin to use it on!

I used his liquid as a shampoo and it totally stripped my hair. My hair has never felt like hay before. I fixed it with conditioner but I don't think it makes a good shampoo.

I love the peppermint one for camping. I use it to wash me, and my hair. No bugs! I always thought it lathered up very well. Perhaps it depends on the degree of water hardness. But it can be used to wash dishes and even brush your teeth in a pinch.

Tip: Dr. Bronners Magic Soap

I put diluted Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap in an old foam soap dispenser. Using the foam dispenser makes the diluted soap a lot easier to use. The kids love using foamy soap! In the kitchen I use it for everything; washing hands, cleaning countertops, even washing dishes.

I love this brand! The almond scent smells so good and I love how economical it is. I was a little put off by the price when I first bought my bottle but the stuff lasts for ever and can be used for everything. I also like it because it is better for us and the environment then other soaps. (11/15/2007)
