Why Would Rain Get Into My Window?

Whenever there was a rain storm, rain got into the dining room window at the back of the house which has exterior vinyl siding. The gutter at the front of the house may need to be cleaned. However, the front windows never had any rain problems. Please help.

My guess would be that you have a leak someplace. I would go outside and examine the entire window, including the trim work around the window. It could be that you need new caulking around it, but then on the other hand it could be a more serious repair that is needed.

You didn't say when or how long the vinyl siding has been on but there is an leak from around or in the vicinity of the windows. My guess is poor or improper flashing under the vinyl siding. Solution is to remove the vinyl around the windows and anything else to the bare siding.

Then reflash the window and reinstall the vinly. If too big a job for you then hire someone to do the job correctly.
