Macaroni Beef Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2-3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup macaroni
  • 1/2 cup cheddar or American cheese

Directions:

Cook macaroni until done; drain. Brown beef; drain. Mix the first 3 ingredients in a 2 qt. casserole dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees F. Remove when cheese haws melted, usually 20 minutes or so.

Recipe: Beef and Macaroni Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 package elbow macaroni (7oz.)
  • 1 package dried beef
  • 5 Tbsp. margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/8 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups American cheese, grated
  • 1 cup soft bread crumbs

Directions

Prepare macaroni according to package directions. Drain. Melt 3 tablespoons butter. Add flour, seasoning, and milk. Cool 3 minutes. Stir in cheese. Heat until melted. Add macaroni and dried beef. Heat 5 minutes. Pour into 2 1/2 qt. casserole. Melt remaining butter. Toss with bread crumbs. Top casserole. Broil until lightly browned.

Serves 6.

Recipe: Macaroni Beef Casserole

This money-saving casserole is one that is also called a comfort food. For a complete meal, serve with a tossed green salad with your favorite dressing.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. (7-1/4 oz.) macaroni and cheese dinner
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 (14-1/2 oz.) can Italian-style stewed tomatoes, undrained
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves or dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (your choice of mild, med, or sharp)

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Prepare the boxed dinner in a large saucepan as directed on package, omitting the butter. Meanwhile, brown meat in large skillet on medium-high heat; drain. Add tomatoes and oregano; mix well. Bring to a boil. Add meat mixture to the macaroni and cheese; spoon into a 9-inch square baking dish or pan. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and the casserole is heated through.

Servings: 4
