Those cheap plastic pens with caps make great travel containers for your fine crochet hooks. Just remove the "pen" part and pop in your hook. No more poking through your bag and getting lost.

A plastic toothbrush holder for traveling works good for your steel hooks, put a needle theader, some small brass safety pins (for marking where you have to go into in some time and when you have to finish, so you don't pull what you have done already out, place pin through the 2 top threads (v of that chain), therefore securing that last (for now) stitch.
