Dirt Cake

Dirt Cake I

We went to a B'day party over the weekend and someone brought the most delicious DIRT CAKE made inside of a clean pail and used a shovel to serve it. It was so good, that most people ate too much of it and left with a tummy ache. LOL.

Serves 15

Ingredients:

  • 1 8 oz pkg instant vanilla pudding
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened
  • 1 16 oz carton Cool whip
  • 1 16 oz pkg Oreo cookies
  • 1 pkg gummy worm candy
  • 1 new clean clay sand bucket (optional)
  • 1 new clean shovel (optional)

Directions:

Crumble Oreos, a few at a time, in a blender or food processor. Blend pudding and milk. Blend cream cheese and cool whip; add to pudding mixture and mix well. Put a layer of crumbled Oreos into the flowerpot; add some pudding and candy worms and continue layering. Top layer of "dirt" is made of Oreo cookies with worms wriggling out.

Place flowers on top. Serves 15 to 20.

I have made this many times although I have always used French Vanilla Pudding instead of the chocolate. It's always a big hit whenever I make it.

You can also make Sand Cake. Instead of the Oreos use vanilla creme cookies. Don't use the worms. Serve in a child's clean, new sand pail and serve with the sand shovel. This is especially good when you are having a Beach Party or a Pool Party.

Enjoy!
