I recently saw a tv show that made furniture for doll houses. She used foam blocks, covered in batten and extra cloth she had on hand, for beds, couch and chairs. She use 1x2 wood blocks for the bed frame, kids play toy blocks for kitchen table chairs, etc. Good luck.
