Substitute Olive Oil For Healthier Cakes

You can substitute the same amount of olive oil instead of regular oil when baking cake. You get essential Omega 3 fatty acids found in salmon by using the olive oil.

You can also substitute applesauce. The applesauce makes the dessert very moist. Hope this helps.

I just learned this trick from a former baker/scientist who tested bakery recipes.

He told me that I can subsitute Olive Oil for butter in recipes. He said to not substitute more than 1/3 of the butter and do an oz for oz exchange. This will give it a longer shelf life as well as making it more moist and healthier. Also be sure to use the basic olive oil and never extra virgin because you will get the olive oil taste in the latter and not the former.
