Tomato Soup Cake

Ingredients:

(Double this recipe for 9x13 pan.)
  • 6 Tbsp. shortening
  • 10 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/2 cup tomato soup
  • 6 Tbsp. water
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins (stir in last)
  • pinch salt
Frosting:
  • 1 pkg. cream cheese (3oz.)
  • 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • pinch salt

Directions:

Mix cake ingredients together and place in greased square pan, 8x8 inches. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. Mix frosting ingredients together and when cake is cool, frost.

Recipe: Tomato Soup Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup tomato soup (in which 1 tsp. baking soda has been added)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves (ground)
  • 1 cup raisins, chopped

Directions

Cream shortening and sugar. Add tomato soup. Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture. Stir in nuts and raisins. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes in greased and floured 9x13 inch pan.

Recipe: Tomato Soup Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 package chocolate cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 can tomato soup (undiluted)
  • 1/4 cup water (I wash the soup can out with the water)

Directions

Pour all in mixing bowl and beat/mix well. Pour into greased/floured 13x9 inch cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes.

Frost with a cream cheese or chocolate frosting.

Source: My daughter got this recipe from one of her customers and was nice enough to share it with me.
