If you rub a small amount of sunflower oil around the inside of your pet bowls before feeding, the food won't stick to the bowl making clean up easier. Plus the oil is good for their coats and can help with hairball in cats.

Another way to prevent hairballs is to coat the outside of you're cat's paws ith a small amount of petroleum jelly. As they lick it off they swallow it and helps to ease the way for the hairball to come up.

Tip: Prevent Pet Food From Sticking To The Bowl

Archived on 10/27/2009

Spray some non-stick cooking spray (I prefer the kind with olive oil) in the bowl before you put the cat food or dog food in. Not only is the oil good for your cat's or dog's skin and coat, it makes cleaning the food bowl easier when they're done eating.

That's a great idea and I finally thought of it myself about 6 months ago. Another good one is to spray a little olive oil on the cat's food (not so much she will notice) to help her with the hairball problem. (02/29/2008)
